DWI Website Updates: OOS Reinstatement
To provide an out-of-state process for a licensed driver in New Mexico that has a DWI revoked license or another type of hold who has moved to another state.
To reinstate your record as an out-of-state resident, your driving record must have reached its end date, meaning the revocation period for your DWI is over. You will need to provide two residency documents that show your current address in your new state. A list of acceptable residency documents for Real ID and Standard ID can be found on the MVDOnline.com website. We have listed a sample below.
Note: Out-of-state residency documents must match your current legal name and list your physical residential address. HC and P.O. boxes will not be accepted. Printed paperless bill statements are acceptable.
Here’s a list of documents you can use to prove your residency.
- Documents Must be no older than 60 Days
- Utility Bill (no cell phone bill statements)
- Bank or Credit Card Statement
- Pay Stub
- Education Institution Document (Transcript, Report Card, or Enrollment)
- City, County, State, Tribal or Federal
- Documents Dated within the past 6 Months
- Insurance Bill, Card, or Binder
- Documents with Current Date (not expired)
- Actual Property Rental or Purchase Agreement
- Local Property Tax Statement
1st: Email Dwi.reinstate@tax.nm.gov the required information and documents, which include: Your Full Name 2nd. When these documents are received and contain the necessary documents your request will be processed, provided you meet the following conditions: The revocation period has passed You have included two acceptable proofs of residency 3rd. Upon successful submission, you will receive an email containing a link to pay the reinstatement fee of $102.00. 4th. Once the fee has been paid, any hold on your record within the national database will be lifted. Please note this process may take 24 to 72 hours to complete.

1st: Mail the following documents to P.O. Box 4340, Santa Fe, NM 87502: Your Full Name A money order or check for $102.00 2nd . When these documents are received and contain the necessary documents your request will be processed, provided you meet the following conditions: The revocation period has passed 3rd. Once processed, you will receive a receipt and a clearance letter by mail. 4th. Please note that after the fee is paid, any hold on your record within the national database will be lifted. Please note this process may take 24 to 72 hours to complete. |
Disclaimer Notice: This out-of-state reinstatement only allows drivers to get their driving credentials in another jurisdiction. If the driver later applies to purchase a driver’s license in New Mexico, they must buy an interlock license and device to comply with their requirements or holds.
