Register to Vote at Your MVD
Voter registration applications are available at MVD offices. For customers obtaining a driver’s license or identification card, all you’ll need to do is complete a few additional items and sign your application. Anyone visiting an MVD office can ask for a Voter Registration Form and assistance in completing the form. We’ll send your signed Voter Registration Form to the County Clerk’s office. Can I fill out my voter registration application online?
No. The Voter Registration Form is available at MVD offices. For customers obtaining a driver’s license or identification card, your information is already in our system, so we’ll fill it out for you. All you need to do is come in, complete a few additional items, and sign the form. MVD customers conducting other transactions such as vehicle registration, title transfers, VIN inspections, etc. can ask for a Voter Registration Form and assistance in completing the form or contact your local county clerk or the New Mexico Secretary of State’s office to register to vote. We’ll send your signed Voter Registration Form to the County Clerks Office. The County Clerk will then verify all the information and will send you your voter registration identification card.
What if I am disqualified from obtaining a driver’s license or identification card?
We will still offer you a voter registration application as long as you are not disqualified for identity fraud. Just complete and sign, and ask for assistance if needed.
What do I do after I sign my voter registration application?
Just make sure that all required items on the application are completed and we’ll take care of the rest. We’ll send your signed voter registration application to the County Clerk’s office. The County Clerk will then verify all the information and will send you your voter registration identification card.

Your Social Security number and date of birth are required to register to vote. If you currently have a driver’s license or identification card, then we have your information saved in our system. We’ll use this information to fill out your application. All you’ll need to do is complete a few additional items and sign your application.

Not long at all. In a matter of minutes an MVD clerk will print your voter registration application and ask you to sign.
How do I qualify to register to vote at MVD?
In order to register to vote, you must be 18 years of age or older or will be 18 years or older at the time of the next election and you must be a United States citizen.
